The Many Wonders of Working with Yarn
Crochet: To Each Their Own
I believe that there is a "right" way to crochet; in a sense. If a person is able to get what they want and are pleased with the results, that is the "right" way. However, what works for one person, or people, may not be "right" for other people. Much like the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" crocheting "correctly" is determined by each individual. However, there are certain things that work for the majority of the crocheting community. By a process of trial and error, crocheters are able to make their own patterns. But, when there are inconsistencies between the "right" ways to crochet, sometimes things don't go as well as planned. This is where small compensation comes into play.
Many people have different ways to crochet. Some people have a way of trying to persuade that what they are doing is "right".
